If you do suffer from headaches, scheduling a chiropractic visit is one of the best things you can do to address the problem. Chiropractors offer safer, gentle and medication free methods that have helped countless migraine and tension headache sufferers over the years.

Many people think the pain from a headache comes from the brain. It does not. The brain is an organ that cannot feel sensation. A high percentage of headaches are related to problems in the cervical spine and you need to see your chiropractor to treat this problem.

 There are veins and arteries inside the brain and skull, as well as membranes that wrap around the brain and nerves in the head called cranial nerves. When any of these are pulled, stretched, compressed, irritated, inflamed or infected, headaches often result.

We often see women mid way through their pregnancy who find relief with chiropractic care and wish they had come to us sooner.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is a safer option for you and your baby, but it is an effective treatment option for back pain.  Studies on the effectiveness of chiropractic care during pregnancy show that:

  • it can reduce low back pain during your term; and
  • can allow for an easier and less complicated birth

Lower Back Pain & Sciatica

iStock_000018773146Small.jpgHave you lost the freedom to do the things you love because of lower back pain or sciatica?

If you are suffering from lower back pain or sciatica then you know this pain can be disabling and left untreated, can stop you from doing the things in life you love.

What is sciatica?

While most people understand that lower back pain is caused by abnormal movement and misalignment of spinal joints, many people are unsure about what sciatica is and how to treat the pain that sciatica causes.

Sciatica is irritation of the sciatic nerve and is most commonly involved with joint inflammation in the lumbar spine or pelvis. Other causes include disc irritation or disc bulging.

How can chiropractic care help?

What you need is chiropractic care to treat the problem, find long-term relief from symptoms and help you to return to an active lifestyle.

While getting a patient out of pain is our primary goal, we don’t take a ‘quick fix’ approach. What really makes the difference and helps our patients to maintain health spines and lifestyles, is to find the cause of the problem and treat it appropriately.

Lower back pain and sciatica can be treated with a chiropractic adjustment and may be accompanied by other things such as massage or stretches. There are many different types of adjustments, but the most common involves a quick, gentle movement from the chiropractor's hands to a specific joint in the patient.

Scientific studies have demonstrated that chiropractic care manipulation is the most effective form of treatment for dysfunctional problems in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines.

Chiropractic for Babies and Infants

babypic.jpgBabies deserve the best start in life, including the best chiropractic care.

The chiropractors at Stirling Health Professionals often see babies that require chiropractic care following birth, especially where the birth involved an unusual or difficult delivery, caesarean or breech birth, the use of vacuum or forceps or any assisted delivery.

‘Did you know that 50% of children who have had forceps/suction delivery may have a spinal subluxation?’

During the birthing process the delicate structures in the neck can be injured causing misalignments in the spine and tension on the spinal cord and base of the brainstem.

Left undiagnosed and untreated, this can cause pain, discomfort and can interfere with normal body functions and normal growth and development.

You may see this manifest in your baby as:

  • Unexplainable and or inconsolable crying (colic)
  • Difficulty in settling
  • Poor sleeping
  • Breast feed difficulties

Chiropractic for Hip, Leg, Knee and Foot pain

chiroforhips.jpgAre you suffering from:

  • hip pain;
  • leg pain;
  • sciatica;
  • pins and needles;
  • numbness; or
  • burning in the feet?

If so, you may have mechanical problems in your lower back that require chiropractic care or you need to see our podiatrist to determine the cause, and the best method of treatment.

Chiropractic for Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist and Hand pain

chiroforshoulder.jpgDo you put with shoulder, elbow or wrist pain?  Have you suffered from tennis elbow, carpal tunnel or pins and needles in your arm? If the answer is yes, then you need to get checked by your chiropractor.

These pains often stem from your neck and affecting nerves that radiate into the arm causing pain. These symptoms indicate mechanical problems that need to be treated with professional chiropractic care.

Shoulders, elbows and wrists, like the spine, are designed for flexibility and mobility. Like a joint in the spine, sometimes these joints become stiff or even out of alignment.

This can interfere with normal mobility and function and affect the function of associated ligaments and muscles.

Chiropractors also commonly see people with numbness and pins and needles in the arm which is often caused by pinching of the nerves in the neck.

Don’t wait till it is too late.  These problems can cause significant pain if left untreated including loss of function, which will affect your ability to work and play.
